Denene De Quintal, Associate Curator for Native American Art at the Detroit Institute of Arts, will be joining us to discuss the history and legacy of indigenous basket making in Michigan. This will include how treaty rights affected the process of basket making, as well as efforts being made by contemporary artists to revive black ash trees left decimated by the emerald ash borer.
